The Future Workforce Summit
The first of its kind summit brought together the UK’s most influential business leaders to drive action and investment in the early years.
Hosted by journalist and broadcaster Mishal Husain, we were joined by England Football Manager Sir Gareth Southgate, research psychologist Professor Marc Brackett, Professor Robert Waldinger and psychotherapist and author Philippa Perry. Our Business Taskforce members including Aviva, NatWest Group, Iceland, IKEA UK and Ireland, The LEGO Group, and Deloitte, shared the impact of their initiatives, which have already reached more than half a million babies and young children.

A new report: The Human Advantage
The Future Workforce Summit focused on the uniquely human skills needed for the future workforce to thrive. At the Summit we released a new report in partnership with Deloitte, called “The Human Advantage”.
The report outlines how at a time of huge technological progress and change, the best investment businesses can make is an investment in the youngest members of our society.
- Businesses will rely on human skills to have the competitive advantage
- 81% of business leaders believe there will be an increased need for human skills in the next 5-10 years
- Very few business leaders recognise the unique importance of early childhood in the development of these skills
